Meet Penelope
Meet Penelope
Penelope is half-Korean, half-Jewish. She is an avid musician, singer, and artist. She creates art almost daily. Penelope thinks of you all the time. It is just who she is. From writing your name creatively in Hebrew as a gift to sharing a little nosh you may have never tasted, Penelope is a giving, caring soul who cannot wait to share her love of life with all of you. She studies both Korean and Jewish history with passion so her haftorah and what it means to her is not to be missed.
What she loves
Her World
Farmers Markets
Penelope walks the Portola Valley or Oakland farmers market all the time. She slowly wanders, imagining the meals that can be cooked with the ingredients. Just as in farming, Penelope is fueled by growth and oneness with the earth and jumped at the chance to make farmers markets her party theme.
Reading & Writing
Penelope recently read house on Garialdi Street. This summer she read over 10 books. She writes fiction at least once a week. You will always find her in a nook reading a book or drawing in an artist pad.
Creative Explorer
Penelope doesn’t just see the world, she collects memories, gathers treasures, and crafts them into magic. Part traveler, part artist, my daughter turns every place she visits into a piece of art, proving she’s a true creative explorer at heart.
Foodie Stuff
Penelope bakes. She helps her mom and dad cook meals. And when traveling, she always does her research about what to eat and where to go. It is not uncommon to find Penelope sharing some unique food with friends at the lunch table at school. The food at this party should be something to write home about.
Her Torah Portion
Parashat Vayigash
Penelope will chant from Parashat Vayigash, the portion in which Joseph reveals himself to his brothers — a story of forgiveness, family, and the courage to be fully known. It is a portion that speaks deeply to who Penelope is: someone who leads with her whole heart.
A Note from Penelope
I'm so grateful to be celebrating this milestone with the people I love most. Becoming a Bat Mitzvah means taking on new responsibilities in my community and my faith — and I can't wait to do that surrounded by all of you. Thank you for being here.
